Violin Lessons

I offer violin lessons for students of all ages, from young beginners to middle and high school students and adults. My teaching primarily follows the Suzuki method, which is the method in which I was raised. The Suzuki method helps students build strong technique, listening skills, and musical confidence. Alongside traditional Suzuki repertoire, I incorporate songs students are excited to play, like pop songs, movie soundtracks, and other familiar favorites, as well as folk tunes from traditions such as Ireland, Sweden, and Denmark. I also help students prepare their school orchestra music, auditions, and seating placements so they feel confident and successful in their ensembles.

Piano Lessons

I offer piano lessons for young beginners as well as older students. For very young or brand-new students, I often begin with the Piano Town lesson series, which introduces reading, rhythm, and basic technique in a clear and engaging way. I also incorporate elements of the Suzuki approach, emphasizing listening skills, musicality, and learning music in a natural and encouraging environment. Lessons include age-appropriate theory, games, and creative activities to help students build strong musical foundations while developing confidence at the piano.

Personal Development

While musical growth is important, I also want students to develop confidence, discipline, and responsibility. Preparing for recitals and performances teaches students how to set goals, work steadily toward them, and experience the reward of seeing their hard work come to life. We also work on managing performance nerves and building confidence in front of an audience so students can share their music with pride. Lessons provide a space for students to practice mature communication with a teacher and take ownership of their progress, and I strive to create a studio environment where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged alongside the guidance they receive from their parents and school teachers.
